Service Foods CEO Dr. Keith Kantor to be a Featured Speaker at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce 2012 Sustainability Summit
Dr. Kantor will share details on the company’s environmentally friendly business practices, including its use of biodiesel-powered vehicles and its carbon-neutral status, during the Understanding Sustainability – Strategies for Leading Change panel
ATLANTA, May 1—Dr. Keith Kantor, CEO of Service Foods, a leading provider of all natural, high quality organic food for home delivery, is slated to be a featured speaker at the Gwinnett Chamber’s Sustainability Summit on May 11.
The summit, which will be held at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, will explore sustainability practices, methods and technologies that may provide economic benefit and improve quality of life in Gwinnett County and metro Atlanta.
Dr. Kantor will address business leaders, policy makers and industry professionals during the panel Understanding Sustainability – Strategies for Leading Change. Under Dr. Kantor’s leadership, Service Foods has taken an active role in reducing its impact on the environment. The company delivers its all natural, high-quality organic food directly to clients’ homes in a fleet of trucks powered by biodiesel fuel, a move that has reduced its CO2 emissions by approximately 2.78 million pounds each year. Additionally, the company’s recycling initiatives and environmentally friendly delivery totes prevent another 111.8 metric tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere annually.
Since 2009, Service Foods has offset its remaining carbon footprint by investing in Verus Carbon Neutral Partnership projects that either sequester CO2 from the air or eliminate the creation of greenhouse gases. Verus Carbon Neutral is a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the world’s first and North American’s only active, voluntary and legally binding offset trading system. Thanks to these initiatives, Service Foods was also named Top Green Entrepreneurial Company in Georgia by Business Leader magazine in late 2011.

Bruce Kara, vice president of environment and sustainability for Coca-Cola, will provide the keynote address, The Business Case for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Initiatives. Other agenda items include panels on Building the Business Case for Sustainability and Mapping the Territory – Understanding the Mile Markers.
